Nutrition. What and when would/do you feed your gymnast when home from school around 3 and has gym 5:30-8:30? I’m struggling. So Breakfast through bedtime, what does your child eat? Examples please. I am not an athlete, so I'm just not sure.

My child gets off the bus around 3:30 and has practice from 5-7:30. She is starving after school because they eat lunch at 10:40, so I feed her and actual meal before practice... either carb or protein heavy. I’ve talked to other gym moms and they don’t eat before practice, but it’s best for my girl. I know a protein bar or piece of fruit will not hold her over and a hungry tummy is more of a distraction during practice. I don’t have a picky eater so it’s easy for me
My daughter goes from school (3:40) to practice (3:55) and gets home around 7:30. From school to practice she typically eats a yogurt parfait (that I make) or a combinations of some of the following.a yogurt, string cheese, almonds, craisins, banana,smoothie, protein bar etc. after practice she eats a small and healthy dinner. She loves eggs for dinner most nights.
My 6 year old eats cereal/toast/waffle with PB/eggs...all depends on the day but she picks 1 of those for breakfast and eats around 7:45 am, usually packs her lunch with either a lunchable or a sandwich with some kind of lunch meat or PB, usually has chips, yogurt, and a cheese stick with water to drink, eats at 11:45 ish. I pick her up at school at 3:25 and have a snack, chips or sometimes a lunch meat sandwich. We drive almost an hour for practice and she practices from 4:30 to 7:30, we sometimes eat supper at home but most days it's fast food, either chickfila, Wendy's, McDonald's, or kfc. She usually gets chicken, fries/Mac n cheese but she usually feels up on the chicken. Thank god it's only 2 days a week, not sure what we'll do next season when it's 3 days a week.
The most common reason for the headache in an athlete is not nutrition but hydration. They think they get enough but in all reality they don't.
We normally do dinner before gymnastics. She gets a 20min brake at practice and has a snack or something from the cafe. Then by the time we get home She will eat dinner again or a health snack. We r at the gym from 4:30 -7:30
We eat dinner after school and pack snacks for class. She sometimes easts again after class
